    Collecting Rolex Data

While assembling my modest collection of Wilsdorfs finest, I accumulated a lot of data (bookmarks, spreadsheets etc).

I have no intention of adding to my collection any time soon and hence no real reason to keep any of
this interesting data around... yet I'm loathed to consign it all to the recycle bin and purge it all from the bowels of my hard disk.

So instead I stuck it all in a database and set it free into the Internet from where it came. I hope it might be useful to other collectors and enthusiasts.

I invite you to search for your watch and if inclined, send me any corrections or data to fill any of the numerous gaps.

Please welcome, The Unofficial Rolex Number Wizard at rolexnumberwizard.com

    Thanks!

    Collecting Rolex Data

I finally got round to uploading some scans of vintage movement service docs and made them somewhat searchable. They're useful if you're looking at movement photos and trying to determine if they're legit.

    Hope they're useful to someone.

    Well, that was short lived...

The domain name rolexnumberwizard.com has been returned to the Registrar under pressure from these IP Trolls..

The database is still out there if anyone wants it.

Just register a domain without the name 'Rolex' in it. I've had to relinquish a domain to Rolex in the past as well.

I wonder how other well known and long standing websites have escaped these trolls?

    vintageROLEXforum.com, ROLEXforums.com, ROLEXmagazine.com ...

    Not to mention variants like,

    oysterquartz.net
    gmtmasterhistory.com

I've only heard of them going after domains with "Rolex" in them, but I'm sure there are more. As far as the first three you mentioned, I guess Rolex feels they're beneficial to the brand (which they are), so they allow them.

It seems counterintuitive given the Rolex stance on gray market sellers.

I suspect it's down to their large membership and traffic. The negative PR fall out would be substantial.
